Sometimes a bad experience serves as starting point for a great adventure, and a fascinating product. Adrian Dogar, founder of SMAB, decided to turn his programming course manuals into audio tracks, which helped him to improve his learning. However, the audios he used back then lacked usability -resuming the audio exactly where he had stopped the previous session proved to be difficult, and he also missed the support of visual and textual materials in his learning process. This is why he decided to solve those problems.
That’s how SMAB was born. SMAB is not just a place to share audio. It’s a tool for podcasters which allows them to enhance audio with visual elements, such as text notes, video, pictures, or interactive links, making it much richer and more complete. The system can also recognize the audio and allows users to navigate it, thus making it possible to index sound textually and to search within it. Thanks to this, content producers can offer a much better experience to their listeners, by making it interactive and delivering an experience superior to other platforms’. On top of that, SMAB makes it easier to monetize those contents by adding visual ads, which are synced with the audio.
SMAB was one of the finalist projects of Yuzz’s 4th edition, one of Spain’s most renowned entrepreneur programmes. The project was selected as one of Galicia’s top 3, and was one of the 33 projects selected within Spain. Thanks to this, SMAB visited Silicon Valley, and was introduced to the world’s most influential startup ecosystem.
